Petland, Inc. awards outstanding store operators at Petland’s 48th anniversary Trade Show
(LAS VEGAS, NV, July 31, 2015) – Petland’s 48th anniversary was recently celebrated at it’s annual Awards Banquet and Trade Show held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.
President and CEO Joe Watson opened the evening with a look back over the last 48 years at Petland as it related to popular culture, noting that the Big Mac was introduced the same year as Petland’s founding.
Awards given included Store of the Year, Community Store of the Year, International Store of the Year, Nicholas Alexander Award, Vanguard Award and Presidential Awards.
Store of the Year awards are based on a number of business operational factors including excellence in store presentation, customer service and animal husbandry. Store of the Year nominees included Petland Columbus Carriage Place, OH, operated by The Donovan Family; Petland Pensacola, FL operated by JR and Jennifer Harper; and Petland Kennesaw, GA, operated by Lamar and Debbie Parker and Brad Parker. The Domestic Store of the Year winner was Petland Novi, MI operated by Randy Horowitz.
The Community Store of the Year was Blue Springs, MO, operated by Jim and Donna Taylor.
The International Store of the Year winner was Petland Yue Da, Shanghai, China, operated by Petland China.
The Nicholas Alexander Award is presented annually to Petland franchisees that have shown the most dedication to improvement in the areas of store management, animal husbandry and customer service. This year’s recipients include Petland Deerfield Beach, operated by Mayid Aymin; Petland Topeka, KS, operated by Staci and Lance Williams, Petland Lake St. Louis, MO operated by Tom and Mary Killmade and Jeff Hartman, and Petland Terrace, BC, Canada operated by Amy Credgeur.
The Vanguard Award is presented to Petland’s newest operators. This award can be won by a newly developed Petland store or won by mature store under the ownership of a new franchisee. This year’s recipients include Petland Jacksonville, FL, operated by Geoff and Kelli Daniels.
Finally, Presidential Awards are given to outstanding employees in each management department of the Petland store. The 2015 recipients are Holly McFarland, Petland Columbus Carriage Place, OH, Pet Counselor of the Year; Rashelle Bunke, Petland Columbus Carriage Place, OH, Kennel Manager of the Year; Alex Pottburg, Petland Kansas City, Inventory Control Manager of the Year; and Olivia Towle, Petland Overland Park, KS, Manager of the Year.
