How Can We Help?
Petland Reflects on a Year of Growth, Giving, and the Power of Pets
When you’ve been in the pet industry for nearly 60 years, you learn that success isn’t just measured by growth — it’s measured by the lives you impact.
That’s why Petland is proud to look back on 2025 as a year filled with meaningful milestones, powerful moments of community support, and a continued commitment to putting pets and people first.

A Trusted Name, Recognized Year After Year
In 2025, Petland was once again recognized nationally by earning a spot on Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500® list for the 46th consecutive year, ranking 215th among nearly 3,500 franchise concepts. With more than 250 locations worldwide, Petland’s continued growth reflects a franchise system built on trust, consistency, and a love for pets.
“2025 was a year that truly reflected who we are as a company,” said Joe Watson, Petland President and CEO. “From continued recognition as a leading franchise brand to the countless ways our teams showed up for pets and people in their communities, Petland remains focused on strengthening the human-animal bond.”
Showing Up When It Mattered Most
While rankings and recognition matter, the moments that defined 2025 were the ones that happened in Petland communities.
In Chillicothe, Ohio, Petland partnered with local firefighters to help a family rebuild after a devastating house fire — providing supplies and support for two new puppies that helped bring comfort after unimaginable loss.
In Fairfield, Ohio, another Petland team helped turn a young girl’s birthday into a moment of healing, surprising her with a puppy after a year marked by profound personal grief.
Stories like these weren’t rare — they were a reflection of what Petland teams and Petland Charities do every day: step in, lift up, and make sure pets and families aren’t facing hard times alone.
Petland Charities Expands Its Reach
In 2025, Petland Charities continued creating impact across the country. Through programs like the K9 Feeding Program, Petland helped support law enforcement K9s, search dogs, and certified school therapy dogs by assisting with food costs.
Petland Charities also provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations, food, and supplies to shelters, rescues, veterans’ organizations, disaster relief efforts, and programs supporting retired breeding dogs — extending care far beyond store walls.
Education, Welfare, and Doing What’s Right
Petland also remained committed to responsible pet ownership and animal welfare throughout the year. National campaigns encouraged safe and informed pet care, promoting vaccination awareness, summer heat safety, and anxiety prevention during fireworks season.
On the industry side, Petland co-hosted the 11th Annual Ohio Breeder Symposium, welcoming more than 200 breeders to focus on ethics, accountability, and science-backed breeding practices — reinforcing the company’s strict oversight standards and dedication to doing what’s right for pets.
A Heart for Pets — and the People Who Love Them
Even as public criticism persists from activist groups, Petland continues leading with transparency, education, and action. Since launching its Adopt-A-Pet program in 1998, Petland has helped find homes for more than 350,000 homeless pets nationwide.
As Petland heads into a new year, its mission remains the same: to strengthen the human-animal bond, support responsible pet ownership, and bring joy, comfort, and companionship into the lives of families everywhere.
Because at Petland, it’s never just about pets — it’s about purpose.
