Theft Investigation Open as Suspect Flees with Two Exotic Birds
CHILLICOTHE, OH (April 3, 2025) – Police in the communities of Fairfield and Mason, Ohio are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest who is wanted for questioning and is believed to have taken exotic birds from two separate pet stores this week.
The man seen here (picture follows) entered Petland Fairfield, located in the Jungle Jim’s Shopping Center at 5470 Dixie Highway, on Monday, March 31st at approximately 12:30 pm. He spent a few minutes in the pet store, and when employees became busy with other customers or duties, the man was seen putting on a pair of gloves grabbing this green (picture follows) Indian Ringneck bird and quickly exited the store.
Two days later, what appears to be the same individual, wearing the same coat, entered Petland Mason, at around 2 pm Wednesday, April 2. Petland Mason is located at 9938 Waterstone Blvd. The man used the same method to take the second bird, putting on a pair of gloves and grabbing a blue Indian Ringneck bird and exiting the store. In photos taken outside the store, it appears the blue bird may be in the man’s left hand.
