Wish Kid Grace Surprised With New Puppy!
BURLINGTON, Vt. – A five year-old girl made a new best friend Sunday, thanks to Make-A-Wish Vermont.
Sunday, Wish Kid Grace Robinson, 5, Williston, was surprised with a new labradoodle puppy, from fellow Wish Kid, Megan. Megan received a labradoodle puppy for her wish, ten years ago.
When she was two, Grace was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She’s been in remission for about a year, and her parents say a stuffed animal puppy got her through her days in the hospital.
Grace wished for a dog last year, and was told in January she would get that wish later in the year. She and Lucy previously met in May, but Sunday was the day she would get to take her home.
“It makes my heart so full to see her experiencing this joy and just getting back to being a kid, which she missed out on a lot of. So, this is really nice for us,” said Grace’s mother, Karen.
Dog toys, food and more were donated from Pet Land, Orvis, Guys Farm and Yard, Pet Food Warehouse and Vermont Teddy Bear.
Lucy is from Green Mountain Australian Labradoodles in Essex Junction.
