Petland raises $52,000 for St. Jude
(Chillicothe, Ohio, October 8, 2014) – Petland was recently honored in Memphis for raising over $52,000 nationwide last October to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s treatment and research, more than doubling its contribution from 2012.
Elizabeth Kunzelman, Director of Communications, and Lisa Johnson, Vice President of Finance traveled to Memphis to tour the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, attend the awards luncheon and kickoff the 2014 October Fundraising campaign. Franchisee Matt Donovan and his wife Lori, of Columbus, also attended.
Petland’s national goal for 2014 is $83,333, the cost to operate the hospital for one hour of one day.
“Petland is proud to support the work being accomplished at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and has supported the organization for many years. We have been fortunate to have several stores and staff members visit the facility and see firsthand how special it is. Kids are treated like kids and no parent has to worry about payment. It’s truly a magical place and we want to do all we can to support their research and their treatment,” said Elizabeth Kunzelman.
Petland became a St. Jude corporate partner in 2009. The St. Jude Halloween campaign, now in its 23rd year, asks customers to donate $1 or more at the register. In exchange for the donation, customers sign a St. Jude Halloween-themed pinup which is then displayed in store.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of Petland’s national children’s charities and is supported throughout the year with various fundraisers and community service initiatives.
In addition to Petland’s Safari Stan Children’s Charities, Petland stores participate in the Adopt-A-Pet adoption program, placing over 330,000 abandoned or unwanted pets, as well as pet therapy programs and a Pets for a Lifetime program.
